wheel bearing spacers
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:40:25 am »
We have been doing some research on bearing spacers and think there may be a use for them in our legend.  First off are they legal, and if so is there anyone out there using them?

There is absolutely a use for them.
I know people were running them last year, but I cannot say if they are legal or not.
it's not in the rulebook.
Best thing would be to email Scott R. Then you have an answer you can carry with you to the track

They work great!! Very easy to set and really nice to just tighten the spindle nut tight and pin it.

I've been selling a lot of them, so they will need to DQ a whole lot of cars.
I see it as a set-up tool.

INEX has just came out with a ruling about bearing spacers.  It looks like the DRP bearing spacers that Jim(VMS) are selling are illegal.

I do not understand why it can not be adjustable.  The reason for the adjustable is to keep the rotor off the pads.
Way around it is to set my drp spacers to lenght then my dad can machine them to exact size.
Problem with this is each car will be different even different from side to side on cars.
What next they are going to put a rule on length of spacer!!!

$6000 motors blowing up during practice and INEX is putting all of their energy into outlawing bearing spacers.

Love the logic. Anyone have an explanation as to why they are illegal? No 1 piece spacer is going to work correctly, using a 30 year old hub and USLC's own poor machinung tolerances, you will not achieve proper pre-load.
These fellows will put themselves out of business with their own lack of intelligence.

If anyone wants a part outlawed, have me sell it. USLC will write a rule against it.

Exactly. You will need to get an exact measurement for each and every spindle, then have each spacer manufactured specially for you.
That is legal?
That is INEXpensive?
DRP will make you a solid spacer, but it's going to be more expensive than the adjustable one.

Someone please explain the logic to me...

Or i can throw a tack weld on each side of my drp spacer this way it in non adjustable now right??
When i need to adjust it lightly grind the weld away and readjust.
Making the spacer is no issue for me.  Just a pain to set each side mic the spacer just to make a solid one.
Did they not see this would happen??  hahahahaha just allow the adjustable spacer call it a day.
It makes no difference adjustable or not.

I was thinking the same thing once it has a weld on it its no longer adjustable and it becomes one piece??

Looking at the picture and reading the release, looks like they will only allow a steel tube for a spacer.

"Spacers used between the bearings on the front spindles will be permitted
as long as it is a simple, magnetic, “piece of tubing” design."
