Need help getting INEX approval for air filters
« on: January 28, 2009, 11:57:39 am »
Hey Guys, just got this from R2C regarding the air filters that I had him develop for us:

Hi Jim,

Can you assemble some feedback from your group in terms of what improvements/benefits we have created in the R2C products and some of the issues that the guys have experienced over time with the current filter products?

Regards,

Ed

Anybody have anything they want to say? R2C is looking for feedback on the current filters available, and how things can be improved.

Thanks,

Jim

I have not raced my car yet, so not much experience with the current K&N filters, but they are kind of a pain the get on the carbs.  I feel like I am going to crush the filters when I am trying to get them installed.

There were a lot of good comments that were brought up in your poll.

There were, and thats the kind of feedback we need to provide, complaints from other racers we've heard have been: hard to get on, the cleaning and oiling, dirt in the carbs, things like that. Any and all comments would be appreciated. I know they make a great product, and would like to see us be able to use them!

Thanks guys,
Jim

I like the idea of using the R2C because of the easy of cleaning and no oiling. But my main thought is still the use of a single filter.
"One air fliter would create more balanced air flow between all of the cylinders." is what RickyBobby's carb guy had to say about that.
I have thought that all along. Add cost of only 1 filter instead of 2 or 4 ......... I'm sold!!!

600 Racing, eBay, or build your own  ;)
There are several companies that sell dwarf and modlite parts.

Theres one listed on eBay right now...but you still need to clean and oil it.

Can we get back to the topic at hand please...other than the recharging, the metal caps popping off the K&N's, dirt in the carbs, what have you guys been seeing? There's been alot of time and $$ invested in developing these filters, it would really be a shame to not be able to offer them as an option.

Thanks for your input...we appreciate it

The K & N s seem to be hard to get on after using them a few times.  I don't know if these would be better in that respect.  I assume it is from the heating and cooling they go through???

Whats the price point on these new filters?

I had no issues with my K&N filters this year.  The only down fall is having to clean them.  If you can solve that issue I would be interested but I dont know how good that would work on dirt.  Can you just clean this new filter with water?

The foam filters that 600 offers is already better than the K&N.  It is easier to put on.  No oiling needed and a dyno test has proven more HP.

Ya, getting rid of my K&Ns too hard to put on the carbs ( one is crushed), bulky, and the cleaning is a pain.  So I am going to use the foam type this year

On the foam ones from 600 you still have to clean and spray.
But it seemed that you could go a little longer than the K& N's
