Banked oval
« on: March 08, 2009, 03:52:48 pm »
Looking for some help with a new bando. We plan on doing some racing at Monroe,Louisana. Any help would be great. I think I'm pretty close on the gear. But the springs in the rear have me at a loss.

Mr. Steve I would like to thank you for all your help. Maybe we should stick with the karts, but these cars are really fun to watch. If the weather holds off. We plan on racing this weekend. I'll let you know  how he does.

Were you racing this weekend
And the fastest way to drive these cars is to have the rear kicked out.

I race in the Midwest send me a mp if you are racing up hear.

We had plan to race at Monroe,LA but the weather has set in and they cancelled. So I guess next weekend will tell the tell if the new setup will work for us. I would like to thank everyone that sent emails and especially Mr. Gil Sr. for his knowledge and help with everything.

Gil has been pretty quiet lately. Would like to hear from him.
Nice guy to talk to!

I think I kept Mr. Gil on the phone for about a hour. From talking to him he's forgotten more than I will ever know.

LOL!
He's a pretty smart guy!  ;)
I would just like to hear more from him.

We don't get a lot of Bando info anywhere on the net. Believe me.... I have done a lot of searching!
There is more info on this site than anywhere!
Geoff also has a lot of insight. Hasn't shared all of it here on the site.... Yet! ;)
But has helped more than a few!
I hope that you got all your questions answered. I also hope that you will pass along what you have learned to others that ask for help.

I have gone as far as I was able to help on BandoStuff.com. I tried to help Ed get the site going. The west coast folks don't seem to want to even share how they are doing thus far. I am embarrassed to say that I am even from the same area as most of these folks. I grew up in the southern California area. The only Bando (and Legends) racing here in Montana, is a couple hundred miles away from where I live. I am not able to get up there right now. I did race mods at Stateline, Idaho... And they now race Legends and Bandos. I also raced in Washington State. They now race there also. There ARE people that have insite! Most , just are unwilling to share. WHY? I couldn't tell you. I guess it's some kind of big secret! It could only help the sport if more people were willing to share

Until the Bando group is willing to share, there is not much I , or this site, can do to help. Sharing info will only help to expand the sport. There is lots of info shared between Legends and Dwarf car drivers and crews. Not so with the Bando group. I find that rather sad. It would make for not only good racing, but would help expand the sport for the beginning drivers.

Mr. Steve, the car was coming around. But I think the motor went "south". One guy was really rolling and I mean he was wicked fast. Mr. Gil the setup really freed the car up too.

make sure you only put 28 oz of oil in the motor. should show a tumb nail on the end of the dip stick.   Check you overfill jug after ever race. Overfill this motors and it will  blow out  the case plug or take out your valves and rocker arm.  Use heavy duty  valve springs change after 3 to 5 races . check for blown head gasket.  I wiLL look up what size gas jets I used that gave us about 1.75 more hp. We had the car on a dyno for 8 hrs of testing. Came up with the best between  6 diff jets.  glad the setup helped seat time seat time seat time  if he is not spinning out give him more power.
