I like the foam mud plugs better.  They are cheap and I have never heard of a spectator getting hurt when one comes off.  The metal and plastic covers always seemed like a bad idea to me.  That is going to be a dangerous frisbee if it goes into the stands.  Just my opinion.

Alot of tracks only allow the foam plugs for that very reason...guess we'll see what happens the first time we go through tech

I used mine this past weekend I made my own covers ,was real easy ,just take off ring lay it on a piece of aluminum trace the inside of the ring, cut it out then use a soft wheel on a grinder to get up to the line you traced ,then when you fit it to the rim and its right, hold it there and from the back side shoot some black spray paint at the the three mounting hole take the peice and the drill out where the paint marked , really looks good, let me know if you try it and how it worked out  ?   Vern

Vern apparently got through tech with his home made mud plugs. It may just take time to tell what INEX is going to require.
I have still seen no mention of a rule for the beadlock wheel (or mud plug) on either 600 Racing site or LegendsNation.
It also may depend on how fussy each track is going to be on the new rule. ?

I still think the beadlock will be a big plus for you dirt track guys!  ;)

Here is the rule from our "home" track for the other divisions:

"Foam type or soft plastic mud plug allowed on right side tires
only."

I have an extra foam plug from the modified laying around.  I might just cut that down for now until a specific rule comes out.

Here's the tech update from 600 racing regarding the mud plug and wheel...

I don't know about you guys but I have never heard of a legends car hitting the cushion and packing the right rear with mud . I don't see a need to run anything but the bead lock. Maybe I will learn from experience.

Also this is another money maker for 600 racing. Not to help make racing more affordable when you can buy a 13" bead lock from bart wheels for $106. instead of $135. A wheel.

First, you've never heard of packing the right rear with mud without a mudplug because....thats never been an option. There's no rule that says you have to run the beadlock, so don't. I've lost enough right rears that it's a no brainer on this end, for safety more than performance. As for affordable...thats your own, personal call. Its not mandatory, so you can't really complain about that either. We've been fighting for years to get it, glad to have it.

Yep, I have lost several RR tires that a beadlock would have prevented.  You will learn from experience.

It is kind of interesting on how this new rule change was pretty much buried in their website and never saw the front page, but then again, ,most everyone knew about it already, just hadn't seen the specifics in writing.
