ride heights
« on: April 03, 2011, 06:19:46 pm »
I wasn't 100% sure where to measure the ride heights from and just wanted to know the right place to measure them.

Thanks,
Dan

As far as conforming to the rulebook, measure from the bottom of the chassis as close to the wheel as possible in the rear, and at the furthermost point on the chassis before the kickup in the front

Where is the kickup?  is that where the shocks are attached?  also does anyone have any info on ride heights and what they do?

Thanks,
Dan

The kick ups are at the base of the fire wall where the frame "Kicks Up" from the lower floor area to the front clip.

Do you have the coil overs on the 1st or second position on the shock?

What are the 2 positions on the shock?

The shock body has 2 grooves in it. The coil over adjuster is held in position by a  "C" clip in one of the grooves.
You may have the  "C" clip in the lower groove (closer to the rod end of the shock). That will cause your problem.
If you can see more than an inch or so of the shock body on the top of the body side of the shock, that's your issue

I took a look and that wasn't the problem.  I'm at about 4 inches now and theres only about 1 1/2 inches of clearance between the bottom of the shock body and the top of the bottom of the shock.  Also looking at the left front the rods are beginning to angle up is this normal?  Also, i only have about 3/4 inch left of screw to screw it down.  Does everyone run them about at the lowest point?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

Can you post a pic or 2 of one of your shocks?  Worst case would be best.
Also, what spring rates are you running?
I'm not sure why you are having so much trouble getting your ride heights in the ball park.
