How did you pick your car number?
« on: July 28, 2010, 10:47:04 am »
This goes for both Legends and Bando's

So I am wanting to re-paint my car but I was thinking about changing my car number (thus requiring me to re-paint it all at once as opposed to piece-meal).

I got to thinking what car number I should pick and I don't have a clue car number to pick.

So post here how you came up with the number you put on your racecar!

I will start.  I am number "49G" because when I bought my car it was already car number 49 and I didn't have the time or money to re-paint it before my first season (which is this season).  I added the "G" because I was told there was another 49 in my series (and I wamnted to differentiate myself).

Now tell me how you picked your number!

(not running Legends, yet)

The cars I have had, I've run w/ my lifetime number 17, or a variation of it in the event someone else was already running it.

I was born in the early 80's and grew up in a racing family, my younger brother is named after Bill Elliott.  My hockey numbers were always based off of different drivers, 27 for Rusty Wallace, 9 and 11 for Elliott, and 17 for the infamous Tide car w/ Darryl Waltrip driving it.  The first jersey my dad purchased for me was when his business sponsored our hockey team, w/ the 17 on the back, and it's been my number ever since.

BTW, we're having a Team Canada vs Team USA ball hockey game over here in Afghanistan where I hope to wear the 17 and score at least a hat trick against the goalie wearing the blue jersey.  ;)

Good luck w/ finding a number.

John

I've always been 17, in Soccer as a kid, Softball as i got older, and now racing.
My birthday is the 17th, so it just kind of became my #.

i wanted to be 38, it is my badge number.  The problem was that there was another 38, so when I got my car it looked nice and was 41..no one had 41....looks good

I wanted to be 21 because my birthday is march 21st but the number was taken and i didnt want to take his number so i decided to be 20. I got alot of crap from people cause they thought i was a tony stewart fan. I was also  18 for 5 years in gokart racing. Idk why i switched numbers. For football i'm 21 and for basketball im 22(20 was taken already)

Hockey in Afghanistan.  Would imagine that it is not exactly their national sport.  You will need to post a couple pics of that.

I had 90 before (high school football number) and when I got ready to race at a different track it was taken.  95 seemed like a good number, it was the year I got married, the year I graduated from college, so I stuck with it.

Well 77, It was my Dads # when he was racing. I started racing with 27 but when I moved over to Legends it was taken (by Keven Yeatts) so I went back with the family number. I was 44 playing football and 11 basketball (many years ago) so 77 along with the family thing just made sence.

#59 because that's the year I was born...  Yeah, yeah, I'm getting long in the tooth to all those pro and semi-pro drives.  Qualify for golden masters series!
If it isn't fun, why are you doing it?

I used 41 most of my Karting years this was taken so I looked back three years of race results to see what way not used. So 38 not used and  I was 38 when I started getting interested in Legends
Unlike most sports racing takes two balls!!!

My stock car # was 8 then 8m later. When I bought the car it was 38 and 8 was taken so I left it. My dad's motorcycle number was 38 (mine was 48 which was also taken) so I just kept that #.  Thought about going back to 8 or 8m but 38 has really grown on me. Also, I was 38 years old when I retired from the Army and bought the car.

Mine is pretty much self explanitory.... 0ยข
Racing leaves me broke and while I am racing a lot of non-sence happens !!
Of coarse my mother thinks I have no sence for racing...

LOL, seriously, I got a little creative with the number once after building a derby car back in the mid 80's
