Gerad,
I am always partial to 28 because of Davey Allison.

So this is what I am thinking......
I don’t want to have a letter behind my number unless it’s for funny purposes..

25 - The date I got married (my wife is lobbying for this)
79 - The year I was born
28 – My Birthday (number is already taken)
30 - Age we I first drove a race car
8 - Becuase it is a single number that I don't think any other driver in our series has and a single number decals cost less than two number decals.......

So, in my qwest to find a new number I have created my own spreadsheet to see what number are availiable and if/why I would want them.  I know I’m a dork……

Maybe I will look at fonts and see what numbers look cool in what fonts?

How did Ya’ll pick your fonts?

Gerad

Before the days of decals I hand painted my own numbers on all my cars. I'm pretty handy with paint brushes. My chosen font is exactly the same as it was back in the late 70's

With my painting skills, I would have had to go with 1 or 11.

" Before the days of decals I hand painted my own numbers on all my cars."

LOL! I numbered and lettered my first 3 cars by hand. You can get pretty creative doing it that way.
I hope that diagram I emailed you helps.

Steve,
I never recieved anything?

I think I am leaning towards A flat black paint job with Yellow outlined college jersey font type numbers (I'm a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan).

Still working on the nuber though.......thinking maybe 24 (not neccesarily for Gordon although I am a fan) for the best football player in Iowa history, Nile Kinnick.

Maybe it's just getting to close to college football season?  ;D

Ok, so I finally did it....  I decided on a new number......8

Really I didn't have many reasons.  It was the only single digit car number that was symetrical (I like that) that wasen't already taken in our series.  Being a single digit it's cheaper to get decals, stencils, etc. for my car in the future (yes, I am that cheap sometimes).  No personal significance for me.  Couldn't find a good number that did have some sort of significance.

and

I recently watched one of my favorite movies "The Postman" with Kevin Costner.  In it the Holness is the army tring to take over the owrld and they live by "the rules of 8" and my wife hates that.  So I picked 8 to get under her skin!!

Anyway thanks for all your help!!

Gerad,

Don't know that that is the smartest reason to pick a number, LOL! I like the color combo in your new avatar. Flat black; Buy a rattle can and instant touch up. Cheap and easy! Also gives it that old time hot rod look.

Yeah, I tried going for the rat rod look but getting a fiberglass body to look rusty......Rattle can flat black was the next best thing.

My very first Legends car was provided by car owner as a dirt car #57.  So when I bought my own asphalt car I thought of #57x, since I am a veteran Figure-8 X driver.  ;D

My number has always been 12,i always wore that number while i played ball in highschool and college. that was my uncles and dads number when they started racing back in the late 70's early 80's and is still my dads number today.  i didnt want the same number as my dad since him and i race against eachother, so i went with 38.  That was my little brothers old football number and i liked it..
