new 5 point harness
« on: March 21, 2016, 05:05:12 pm »
Just tried to install a new 5 point for a friend.  Simpson.  It came with anchor brackets much more narrow than the belts.  Simpson is saying to fold the webbing to slide thru the narrow slot.  It will stay folded inside this anchor slot.  I have never seen this before, all of our other belts have slots as wide as the belt.  (although they are not Simpsons)  Does anyone have experience here?  The Simpson web site and manual don't show a fold process that I can find.  This info was direct from a call to them, I am just wondering what others think.  Thanks,!!

Here is a link to the Simpson install instructions:

I see nothing about folding them either.

Thanks for looking,  I agree, it says it nowhere.  The only thing I see  is that in the picture on the front cover it looks like the lap belts are folded near the anchor, they narrow a bit.  Kinda shocked that something that important is so vague...I am calling Simpson again to be sure......

I did notice that pic as well. You may want to check a few of the other mfgs. and see if there is anything in their instal instructions.

The Crow site looks like it may be folded as well.

OK, Think I found it for you on the GForce site. It shows the folding of the belts to fit the hardware.

Hope that helps.

That's what I was looking for!!!!  ;D  Why the heck wouldn't Simpson have that in their instructions?  Seems to be an important part of the deal..  Thanks for taking the time, never would have found this.  Now I feel much better installing them this way...

I only use simpson belts .....I have called  about this same question  I was told the proper way is to fold the sides evenly to fit in the hardware. Ive always folded the belts and never had a problem
