Jeff,

They probably changed it to give the asphalt guys more time to get off work and get the track. We know that they didn’t have it in NC because of all the dirt racing that goes on there. I just wish if they where going to have in NC and on a Cup weekend that it would have been held at “The Dirt Track at Lowes”. Now that would have drew a crowd from across the street and would have been a great track to run on as well.

That would be cool but the WoO are having their season finales there at the same time.
This dirt Nationals is definitely geared towards the asphalt crowed which is why I thought it would be held during the day.  That way they can rubber the track up to really help them.

Hope they are very good at track prep.  That is a whole lot of hours of racing on a dirt track without down time.

The funny thing is that same conversation came up two years ago at Missouri. The track owner tried to explain Darrel that there are only so many laps in a dirt track. Darrel try’s to run the dirt nationals the same as the asphalt nationals. Not bagging on Darrel, he just doesn’t know. I’m sure the track officials will let him know that we can’t practice all day and race that night on it also.

They had it all figured out in PA, perfect track prep.  Plus they didnt start practice until the sun was down so the track was in great shape all night.

That is why a lot of guys from our area are not coming. Some don't want to travel but the majority of them hate dirt racing during the day. Unfortantely 600 and Krentz will tell you they are open to suggestions and ideas, that they want to listen to all the drivers and do whats best but in the end they just don't care and will do what they want. Also, it would make 600/Inex so happy to see asphalt guys come and try to kick our butts because they love the asphalt guys, to bad for them there are plenty of us dirt guys who are going to ruin their plans.

Just got off the phone with my friend who is down at the natls.  He said the track is rough as heck cause of all the rain.  I guess the ground is really spongy.  Said in one heat race 9 cars started and only 4 finished.  He also said there is only 64 cars total down there.   To bad the track is bad and the car count is low.
