Air filter box

(1/3) > >>

scottpayne73:
Maybe someone can answer this. The used engine I bought had tape on the bottom of the air filter box to cover up the holes. Is this required, or can I put some kind of screen there to keep the trash out? I would like to keep the air flow. Anything will help.

Are we talking about a Bando?  If so the hole must be plugged.  Older engines used a metal plug but newer ones just use a piece of tape....high tech!

Ed,

Why would the holes need to be covered? I would think that it would help increase air flow if they were uncovered.

does it make a difference if the holes are not plugged? just got a new engine aa few weeks back and they are not taped.

None of my motors were covered either.
