SS Fuel Line
« on: November 06, 2008, 09:07:30 am »
Has anyone talked to 600 Racing or a dealer and find out what the plan is for the SS fuel line?  I found some 5/16" SS fuel line on Ebay that I am going to get but I am curious as to what the official 600 Racing fuel line kit is.

I picked up the kit from 600.
it was pre cut into 3 sections, i have the receipt in the trailer, but it was cheaper then buying on line.

I replaced mine last year.  I dont know what the cost from 600 will be, but I got 10 foot roll of 5/16 s/s line for about 40 bucks from E-bay...

How is the 600 Racing fuel kit setup?  Does it use hose clamps or AN fittings with adapters that go to short pieces of rubber hose?  I hope they come out with the specifics on the rule soon.  If they do not allow AN fittings with adapters to short pieces of rubber hose, I'll have to replace everything I put in this summer.  From what I have found out, some braided hose is setup to use hose clamps as an option and some of the heavier duty stuff like I have cannot be used with hose clamps.

it was 50 bucks from 600
the way they had the new cars set up was with the hose clamps over the ss.
or you can roll back the outer and put the clamps on the rubber acording to 600

I cut back the S/S a few inches then taped the S/S and used a wire tie to make sure the tape did not come off then a clamp on the rubber part of the hose...

Works great, no problems

Just a little leery about doing that with the hose I have.  Also, I have 6 AN hose so there will be a lot of slop in the way it fits.  I think my setup should work fine and is safe, but just wondering if there will be a mandated way of doing this in the new rules.

You have to get 5/16 S/S line, you can find it for motorcycles.  -6 is too big

Replacing it all is what I am tryting to avoid.  I already spent the money on lines, fittings and adapters and do not want to have to replace all of it.  For someone starting new on the lines, the braded line that is made to work with hose clamps would be the way to go.

I ended up getting a 25' roll on Ebay and plan to do both of my cars with it.

Summit Racing and Jegs also have pretty good pricing on 5/16 braided line that will work with hose clamps.  It is less expensive than normal AN braided line.

I started using my 5/16" braided line and I am impressed.  Very easy to work with, looks good, and should be safer.
