Tire Wear

This is my second year being part of a racing team and my first real exposure to being around and working on any type of vehicle.  I feel that it is neccesary to  give you all a background on myself.  I am a crew chief for a driver who is also in his second year of racing a legends car.  Before that he raced hobby stocks for about 5 years.

Just today we noticed that the tire treads were being spread out towards the outside of the tire.  This was noticed more on the front left and right.  The right being the worst.   Is this happening becuase my driver is over driving the corners?  Not choosing the right racing line?  Poor setup?  Or a bit of all of them?   By the way the tires have been shaved.

We are having a hell of time trying to figure these cars out.

Thanks in advance.

You need to adjust your camber.  If you are running an oval tip the top of the tires toward the inside of the track.  Or if you are running road coarse tip both tires tops toward the center of the car.  This will help the tire from rolling over too far and wearing the outer edge of the tire.

Racecar spelled backwards is racecar. Racecar upside down is expensive.
