Wheels?
« on: June 09, 2008, 10:05:40 am »
What wheel offset is legal and what size bolt pattern is it?  I want to order a spare set of Bassetts and I want to get the right ones.
Thanks

Jeff,
 Wheels are 13x7, 3" - 3 1/4" offset. Bolt pattern is standard Toyota 4x4 1/2.

unless you can get a better deal on the wheels why not just order them from 600 Racing or your local 600 rep?

I bought a set of very nice, used, Aero wheels from Twenty8five (Scott).
I don't recall what I paid for them; but they were pretty reasonable, even with the shipping.

Read rule #75 about wheels.

Steve,

I'm not sure about this but I think that the Aero wheels are NOT legal for INEX. If I recall correctly they are to light. I'm getting old and could be wrong about this.

The minimum weight of a tire and wheel must
be at least 36.0 pounds without additional weights.

Scott,
I don't know the weight of the wheels right off the top of my pointy head.  :D
I also don't know what the weight of the tires are. The combination may be OK though.
It is definately something to think about when ordering wheels.

Don't know about the Aero's, but I like the Bassetts because they have the valve stem on the inside...which I've learned is good...those bumpers can knock a valve stem right off...as I learned last Friday. Switching over to the used Bassetts that came with the car this week. No racing, taking the kids to the Railroad museum for our annual fathers day deal.

New Bassett wheels are only $64 each, not bad for a quality wheel.  I wont get any wheel that has the valve stem exposed, I learned that with my first late model.  I have used Bassetts exclusively for the last 4 years on my big cars with no issues at all.  I did have an Aero wheel with 4 races on it have a bead failure (bead folded over), caused an instant flat and was lucky not to crash the car as it happened in the middle of the corner at Slinger Super Speedway.

Jeff,
If you've had good luck with the Bassett wheels, then I would go with your experience.
$64.00 for a new wheel isn't a bad price.
Go with what you are comfortable with.
