Engine will not start
« on: December 27, 2014, 05:57:33 pm »
I try to crank my 34 coupe 1200 on a regular basis through out the off season. Today I started it up and walked away for no more than five minutes. When I returned it wasn't running and it had an odor of boiled egg or sulfur. The motor turns over freely but will not start. No wires appear to be burned.  Any suggestions of what the smell is coming from??

 Could be a number of things... mouse nest plugging the exhaust,  cheap ethanol fuel sat in the carbs and when you started it up the oxidization it causes from setting in the carbs plugged the pilot jets (that fuel smells like rotten eggs), or if you have a remote oil filter system on it, it air locked and starved the motor for oil, an ignition box went out or pick up coil (some times when these go out it throws the timing off so they run hot before it died), Fuel pump could have went out and it ran lean and hot, Ignition switch failed, etc.. Like I said, tough to tell without more info

I would start out troubleshooting;
1) Are you getting fuel?
2) Are you getting ignition?
