3:58 is the gear listed in the  Track And Gear chart for Sportsdrome.

Is your driver light? Does your car barely make the minimum weight?

Weight effects what gear you can run. Try a 3.90 in 4th or stick with your 3.30 and try to add some weight.

I am a fat guy that runs  dirt. Because I am fat, I can get away with running a 3.90 in 4th where others (skinny) have to run a 3.73.

A 3.90 in 4th will help with your loose off condition as well. You'll just have to keep more momentum in the corners.

Gerad started making these charts a few years ago for us. He has updated a few times. I was just going by the last update that I had downloaded.

Your hitting the rev with a 3.30....

A 4.10 and a 3.33 will hit the rev limiter sooner. Here are the ratios:

3.90-4th  5.04
3.30-3rd  5.18
3.33- 3rd  5.23
4.10- 4th  5.30

4.10 gear is the preferred gear at Sportsdrome speedway, it's what I run and most of the faster cars run.  You can run a 3.30 or 3.33 but you won't have as much pull off the corners.  If your hitting the rev limiter with a 3.30 something isn't right or you are super fast.  I wonder if you might accidentally be in 2nd gear?
If your running it fast you will hit the rev limiter just before turn one and just before turn 3 using the 4.10, I'm decently fast there and I don't always hit my rev limiter running the 4.10.

Just thought of this, Which ignition box do you run?  I believe if you are running the U.S. Legends provided black box (non vaccum advance) I think it has a lower rev limit which could be greatly adding to your problem.  Not many people run this ignition anymore due to this.

If you need more help identifying it let me know.

Also, I can help you out with some spring combo's to try at Sportsdrome just PM me if your interested.  But you will need a set of scales to set it up.

Just saw that you are running the red box, then you shouldn't be hitting your rev limiter with a 3.30 in 3rd
