Just read thru rule book...And lo and behold they totally missed out on the dirt Legend car rules.  Under tires they can't get brand(American Racer) called out correctly and under wheel weights only mention weight of Federal tire as mounted on standard or lightweight wheels.  Guess us dirt cars can run carbon fiber wheels then???  Also, they did nothing to come up with some sort rule to address the fuel cell safety issue of puncturing fuel cells after how many bad fires now.  As usual, dirt cars seem to be swept under the rug.  But they can charge more for engines... >:(

I'd go with a magnesium wheel, don't think carbon fiber would hold up

Mark,

After this many years; Do you really think USLC cares about dirt drivers/owners?

Scott,

I just happened to spy the new rule book because I got an email about the sealed engine increase.
Also available in documents on the USLC site.

They should care about dirt. They had the number 1 car per event of anyone in the country. PA legends that run on dirt had the biggest car per event than anyone else in the country. Nice job Central PA Legends.

Actually received my INEX license, 2014 rulebook, and decal packet today....WOW  :)
Read thru Legends part of both 2013 & 2014 rulebooks side by side and these are the changes I found:
- Under 4. Ball Joints - Added sentence at end of rule "Anything limiting the natural travel of stock ball joint as delivered by U.S. Legends Cars International is not permitted.
- Under 24. Rear Fenders - The rear fender contour must measure at least nine(9) inches from main body shell.  Rule last year read contour must measure at least ten(10 inches from main body shell.
- Under 61. Rear Ends - Added sentence at end of rule to address building caster or camber into rear end housing I assume "Axle bearing flanges are square to the center line of the rear end housing.
- Under XJ1250 Engine Rules - Engine seal rule was updated as has been previously discussed on other threads.
Other than that, many of the rules that previously stated as currently delivered by U.S. Legend Cars International now are worded to say as delivered new by U.S. Legends Cars International.

Just glad we are finally receiving this stuff in a timely manner this year rather than waiting a week or two after the race season starts as had often happened in the past.

Got mine today too.
They sure sent a lot of stickers though, and some big ones...did they forget these are 5/8 scale cars  :D
At least they only sent me one of each sticker, I can divide them up on each side  ::)

Nice to have the stuff out in time this year though

Joe,

Only way I can see to do it is jack up the car and measure from the center of the ball joint and see how far the joint moves as you turn the wheel left and right. Never heard of any kind of speck for it. I am going to assume that this is to stop any illegal tampering (welding?) of the ball joint. As I see it; That would create a sort of go kart type of steering. Not sure I even see that; As go karts have rod ends that serve as a ball joint. ???

Guessing some asphalt folks down south are playing with the ball joints for bump steer control. Im no suspension wizard, but wouldn't that be a way to induce coil bind?
