Used Car value
« on: December 10, 2012, 09:27:51 pm »
Hello guys can tell me what this  used car is worth?  The car has been sitting for the past few years

It  is a 1934 Ford sedan:

New chassis in 2007 raced approx 10 races
Sealed Motor, with top end oiler, 3 pass oil cooler with fan, also new in 2007, approx 8 races on it
In car lap timer, Memory Tach, oil temp, oil pressure
Various Spare parts , 12 chrome trap wheels, body parts, spare gear set, Longacre scale setup with drive on pads, setup tools, castor/camber gauge. wheel base gauge, bumpsteer gauge, tire temp gauge, tire gauge, all these are Longacre.
Has a decent Leaf racing suit, gloves and shoes.

Thanks.

Just my opinion, based on it sitting for a few years...$7000 car only, $8000-8500 with all spare parts.   Again, just my best judgement based on many Legends cars I've seen for sale over the last few years.

I think thats high Mark.
Sitting for 5 years, who knows the condition.
Engine could be illegal, as it was built before they were all brought in-house.
For sale vs sold is a big difference, theres been alot of stuff for sale for a long time, but the market has decreased quite a bit in the last couple years, as with all non-essential purchases.
I'd say $5k, $6500 w/ all spares/scales.
I'll put my new engine in my car and completely re-do the body if they start selling for $7000 again

Do you think 9000 is a fair deal?

I would make a lot lower offer. Worst they can say is no.
The suit, gloves and shoes are not of much use unless they fit you.
Consider what upgrades you will need to make also.

Oh hell no, $9000.00, The car has sat for atleast 5 years. I would be cautious of the motor for sure, sits for 5 years, cranks it to 10,o000 rpm and ----- who knows. The brake system is probably junk, the belts are junk, it need roll bar padding, fuel line, etc.  Does he have a vin and title in hand?  I agree depending on the condition of the car $6000.oo- $7000.00  TOTAL! Alot of depends on these parts, drive on scale system, what type? Are the gears spooled or welded? Full retail may have BEEN 5K, this stuff has sat for 5 years.

The car is in good shape, the scale system is a longacre.  The gears are welded.

Are you looking for advice, or trying to justify a price you already paid?
You have gotten alot of responses here, and they are all saying pretty much the same thing. If you already bought it, congratulations, and enjoy your new car, nothing you can do to change it, so have fun and race it.
If you haven't, I personally don't think its worth nearly the price listed, but hey, if prices start trending upward, we would all be happy.
