Chassis Paint
« on: January 02, 2012, 10:04:26 am »
I have my car completely taken apart and was looking to paint the chassis while i have it apart. Does anyone have experience doing this and if so what type of spray paint did you use? I was considering the engine enamel since it withstands high heat, oil, gas etc. Just curious. Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,

I just use a good can spray paint at the local wal mart ,so when something has to be repaired,it's a easy touch up

Cheap rattle cans, but I run on dirt and strip the cars down every off season anyway.

I have used some Valspar tractor paint from Tractor Supply Co, for $25 a gallon you cant go wrong.  Shines good and is durable, just has a longer dry time.

Racecar spelled backwards is racecar. Racecar upside down is expensive.

I've recently switched pretty much everything over to Rustoleum in quart cans from Walmart.  No overspray mess or fumes, very durable, and if you apply some sort of heat light or lamp just after application, it will lay out as nice as any automotive paint.

Good luck!  ;D

Kevin, have it powder coated. Here in Ohio it cost me about $300.00 to have a chassis blasted and powder coated a basic black. The last one I sanded and sprayed probably cost me way more than that in material and severe aggravation.
