Oil Line and fuel lines
« on: November 03, 2011, 01:56:16 pm »
Just was thinking about new oil and lines for the car.  Does everyone use steel braided?  Are AN 8 a standard size oil line? and AN 6 standard fuel line?  Here is what i have found would this be good for both oil and fuel lines?  http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Aeroquip-Stainless-Steel-Braided-Low-Pressure-Hoses,939.html

the fuel line is 5/16, you can get it S/S briad from line Ebay or get a kit from the dealer.  An6 is big for the fuel line.  You can use AN6 or 8 for oil.

Yes the fuel line is 5/16ths and you can buy it various places. The steel braided oil line is not the best choice, its expensive, stiff , heavy and not real practical for a Legend car. There are several lines that will work better for you.  Summit racing has there own brand name on a line that is light and VERY flexible. The fittings are mush easier to install and the line will last longer. Summit calls it a braided nylon hose. 8an is the practical size for the Legend Car.

Is this it?  How hot does the oil normally get this is good for up to 275 degrees.

Dan,

Fuel Line:
Summit P/N SPE-29310 - SSteel-Flex, Braided Stainless Steel, 5/16 in. Diameter, 10 ft. Length, Each$36.95

Oil Lines:
Use 8AN push lok fittings. (Aeroquip work best for me)
Summit P/N Aeroquip FBM1533 - Aeroquip Socketless Hose End, 90 deg, Each $17.95.
Summit P/N Aeroquip FBM1513 - Aeroquip Socketless Hose End, Straight, Each $6.95.

Use 8AN push lok line.  I purchased mine from my local Motion Industries store, LOLA+ Black Push-Lok  Black Hydraulic Hose, P/N 3284-2504, paid $1.12 per foot.  Good for 300 PSI with flame resistant cover.

I would not recommend using the blue Aeroquip socketless hose for either fuel or oil lines as additives in fuel cause this line to become hard and brittle and elevated oil temps cause the same thing.   Remember to assemble line to socketless fittings with both hose and fitting lubed with oil.

Hope this helps!   ;D

Thanks for the help, i've just been shopping around to find the best bang for my buck as far as lines go instead of buying them from USLC, i just didn't want to get the wrong line.  Heres some other stuff i found http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Premium-Black-Synthetic-Hose,46023.html not sure if its good or not

Thats a Hell of a deal on that hose Mark, you should have bought it all! I can't touch that price. I can beat the fitting prices, but Aeroquip hose is much more expensive, around $5/foot for the black.
I still prefer the ss braided, but thats all that I have ever run
