Battery Size???

I was looking at the rulebook last night, and noticed that you must use a 25 min. lbs. battery in the car.  Got to thinking, do these motors really need that large of a battery, these engines ran off a small motorcycle battery in their former life.  Is it really necessary to have such a large battery? Just wondering why such a large battery is required.

Answer is no but apart from reducing the car weight the battery now is low down and towards the left side.

It stops people buying expensive racing batteries which weigh nothing.

Its nice to have when the battery in your truck dies, you can just swap it with the one on the race car and get home  ;)
