Oil Leak
« on: July 17, 2011, 03:39:43 pm »
I have an oil leak at the back of my engine I can't find. I have replace both hoses and the o-rings on the oil adapter. I think the leak is the seal behind the ignition pick up. It only leaks when the engine is fully heated up and run for at least five hard laps.

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

Update:

It is definetley the seal behind the ignition pickup.

Does anyone know how to change it?

Mine has a little leak around that plastic sending unit piece on the oil pan.  Took me awhile to find it because it did not drip directly from the spot the oil was coming out.  That rear seal could also have a leak.  How much oil are you loosing?

It was the sal behind the ignition pick up. I found one on line and it fixed it. Part number 36Y-15389-09-00 for anyone that needs one. The factory seal has a ridge that fits in between the cases so you will need a dent puller to get it out. The replacement is straight like a wheel bearing seal and pops in easliy. I did mine with the motor in the car and I had to remove teh brake pedal to get at it.

Here is a picture of the replacement without the lip.

The same holds true for the other end of the crank aswell in regard to the lip.
