cleaning the car up
« on: May 02, 2011, 10:51:32 pm »
I was just wondering what would be best to be used to wash off the tire rubber marks on my decals?

Thanks,
Dan

Gunk Pro-Series Brake Cleaner, formulation M720, in yellow colored aerosol cans usually sold at Fleet Farm for approx. $1.59 a can works great.  I've used this product for years.  Stay away from using non-chlorinated brake cleaners  (such as Wearever brand in gold can from Advanced Auto Parts)as they are too agressive and tend to dull or remove paint.

Good luck! ;D

WD40. The oils will dissolve the rubber and not attach the color in the decal(s).

Solvent based cleaners are hard on decals

I was thinking using this but wasn't sure if it would remove the ink of the decals

The old trusty WD40 helps with keeping the mud from sticking to the car too, if you are running the dirt tracks.  ;)

Mud Off works better than WD40 for mud repellant. one $10 bottle makes about 4 gallons, lasted me 2 seasons

The wd 40 worked great with the exception of the z max decal.  It took some of the orange out of the z lol

Thanks for the help,
Dan
