Experience with Federal Tires on Road Courses
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:04:55 pm »
Please share your experiences with the new Federal Tires on Road Course Racing.
How do the Federal Tires compare with BFG?
Tire wear/life?
Side wall stiffness (or lack of)?
Lap times with Federal vs BFG?
Tire chunking
Safety at 100+ MPH?
Air Pressure set up and tire shaving.

Thanks

Try reading the thread about Federal Tires on pavement. Most references are for ovals but there are a few responses from some that race road courses.

After reviewing some of my own threads, I felt compeled to report on my own post.
Granted, I first asked this question right after the Federal Tires came out.
The 1st set of Federal Tires I got, I was not so impressed with .  However the last set I got I think we're wonderful!
Maybe it was something Federal did  but I think the biggest part was that I had them shaved by someone really skilled in tire shaving for Roadcourse racing.
They are faster than the old BFG and contrary to some initial reports that some people had reported, they did not wear too much worse than the BFG's on roadcourses.
