Legends setup book?
« on: May 17, 2010, 01:35:09 am »
Anyone Know where to buy a book on setup? I use to race gokarts several years back, but forgot about tire pressures and cross, ect. Add springs and working suspension and I'm lost. I know I can get help at the track (and I do), but would like to atleast read up and atleast understand more about what the car is doing.

Thanks

Check our "Reference Material" thread:
http://www.legendsracer.com/index.php?topic=295.0
There are a lot of books and sites that list some technical help.

There are not a lot of books, tapes etc... on these types of cars.
Try "Dwarf Car Technology" by Steve Smith. While it is not Legends Car specific, the book is written about our motorcycle powered cars.
I have the book and the set up tape. The book is excellent, the tape is OK.

There are a few people and/or companies that sell books and/or tapes. I see them on eBay every so often. Check with Geoff (one of our members) about Cy Harvey's tape. I reviewed it and thought it was much better than the Steve Smith tape. mailto: totalperformance@hotmail.com   I don't know if they finally released a version of the tape for sale or not... I have not talked with him in awhile. Let him know you are a member here on LegendsRacer.

Clay Hair also has a  setup book available. Not sure how to contact him. Maybe someone will enlighten us. It is supposed to have some very good setup info. As I have not reviewed it, I can't tell you anything about it. I have seen some clinics and seminars online also. It takes a bit of research and a lot of time and/or money depending on which way you go.

We have  a wealth of experience and knowlege right here on the site. Our members are very friendly folks. If you have specific questions, post 'em here on the site. I know that you will get answers! We also have a pretty extensive list  of gears to run at tracks most everywhere. If you race at a track that is not listed please ask on this thread:

When you get an answer, I will post it to the list.

You can message me and I will let you know what I can. But your best bet is to read through the old threads, then ask the members here on LegendsRacer.

Kevin Yeatts has a good setup manual for pavement from what I have been told.

There are plenty of people out there who offer things with setups or manuals like Kevin Yeatts, Steve Beck, Dan Snyder, Mike Patrick, Clay Hair & many more.

Or you could just ask questions on here .

Also a really good way is to just visit a local track over the weekend, walk around and just ask questions. Most people will help you out.

I would just get a copy of Dwarf Car Technology and check all the other threads, there have been many setups shared on here
