New Pads & Shoes fading
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:13:24 pm »
Hi,

Due to snatching the inside front, I changed the pads and shoes to the standard ones that our Dealer carries.  This solved the problem, and a change of fluid solved a sloppy pedal, but in the 30 lap feature I could smell my brakes overheating, and I suffered last 5 laps with what I would describe as pad fade.  I had a good pedal but no brakes.  Do I need to rub down the pads and shoes to reduce size?  Back wheels are at furthest point of adjustment, but started to drag (squeeking) in pits during last meeting.

Anyone help?

Thanks
Chris

Always be sure to break in your pads.
Usually, some warm up laps with easy braking, and then a few laps with periods of heavy braking will do the trick.
Thing is to let the brake pads cool in between rounds of heavy braking.
