are they stripped out or bottomed out
??if they just turn the bole holes need helicoiled or cam towers changed..If they are bottomed out you need to replace them, might be a good idea to change them anyhow...I hope This helps.. Frank

You will need a metric helicoil, don't remember size of top of my head. They are available from a local Fastenal store. Don't be surprised by the price when you get there as they are not cheap. An installation tool kit with helicoils often goes for around $60-$70. I would also suggest replacing your valve cover bolt seals because if your current seals have seen there better days, they will leak no matter what. You can get either style from Randy at RPM. Good luck!

if i was going to do them , i would grease the tap real good or take the cam towers off . remember they go on with arrow forward or the way the others are ...I'd do them one at a time so i do not mix them up too. They are available on EBay too. They sell them in singles at times .. Look under Fj1200 Engine parts or on here some other racer may have some..But yea i'd replace the seals yea..thanks frank

Yes, do not try to replace the cam caps with caps from another motor. fix what you have if you can.

When drilling the hole out to put heli core in it, is it best to leave cam cover on?

No, do not leave on. Best practice is to remove to prevent chips from getting into engine or damaging camshaft.

The grease trick helps to collect some of the metal chips also.
Do what you can (Towels, rags, etc...) to keep the debris from getting into the engine.
