Tips for push lock oil line...
« on: February 20, 2013, 07:30:32 pm »
Anyone have some tricks for putting fittings on push lock line....   Replacing oil lines, think I'm gonna break a wrist or start throwing things if I can't figure out an easier way to get these fittings on.....

What works well for a lubricant for assembly?  Again, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Only thing that I have found that works is a little heat with a torch.
I stay away from push-loc as much as possible though, so I'm sure someone has a better  idea

i have junk fitting that i put in the vice tight, very tight..
screw the good fitting on the one in the vice...tighten with wrench..
put oil on the hose inside, use a heat gun to heat the hose till plyable not too much but hot push onto fitting do not stop til all the way on.
extra heat if needed.
sfter a few time you will be able to tell how much heat.

good luck

As Joe said, put a junk fitting in a vice and tighten fitting to be used onto this fitting.  Liberally, and I mean liberally oil both inside of hose and barbs on fitting and push hose on.  I wear welding gloves to prevent blisters and get up on work bench to put all weight behind it.  Key here is liberal lube of both hose & fitting with oil.  I read about this procedure in an Aeroquip hose installation book and I have never used any sort of heat to heat hose to assemble.

Hope this helps!  ;D

Use a heat gun and some wd-40 they will slide right on. Make sure you use small hose clamps or crimp clamps on them, I have seen way to many of them pop off. Also push lock hose is not meant for long time use. If you plan on using this type of oil line they recommend you change the lines every so many uses.
