I never did, but am putting a system in my car this year, Have seen too many fires the last year or so.
If nothing else, the $300 system can keep your car from burning to the ground

A fire supression system is a good idea. It's kind of like buying  insurance.
Like buying a helment. If you have a $25.00 head, then buy a $25.00 helmet.
I would rather be safe than sorry.
Do you HAVE to have one? That's your call.

I will be putting in a Firecharger system, but I am biased because I sell them.
Any AFFF system would be good, as it is a foam, not a gas. With the open windows and engine compartments on our cars, the gas will escape and not stay contained to do its job, where the foam smothers

I bought a used car with a halon system in it. some people have said its a waste of money since most have a small extinguisher on board anyway. then one night a few folks thought it would be a good idea to demo the hell outta my car during the races. thats when i discovered that once they are beat on pretty good you cant get the doors open. at 200lbs im not gunna get out of the rh door even if it did open and you sure as hell arent fitting out the windows! so i would hell yes install it and plumb a nozzle to the carb side of the eng compartment, the cab and back near the fuel cell. mine isnt plumbed to the rear but ive seen videos of rear end fires so i will be adding the extra nozzle. my bottle is mounted under the dash in the center above the steering col so its not in the way of anything.

I welded a plate to mount the bottle to in front of the fuel cell.  A couple of years ago I blew a hole through the engine block by the headers and could have sworn it was on fire from the smoke.  I was glad to see that red handle that I could pull if I needed to.  I got the Firecharger system from Jim.
