Digital camber caster guage
« on: November 08, 2010, 08:32:45 pm »
OK which one is a better guage ? a longacre digital camber/caster guage or a intercomp digital camber caster guage ? I know the intercomp one cost more, but is it worth it ?

OK Vern,

I don't think that it is worth the extra money for a dirt car. You can get it very close with a bubble gauge and if you are off a tiny bit you would never feel it. Maybe it would be worth it if you where going to run asphalt but I still think that you can get it very close. Save your money for what ever tire we are going to run next year............. ???.

Call me also sometime. We need to get a plan together for next year. 443-520-2758

Unless you set your car up on a surface plate the extra accuracy wont matter.  I vote for the bubble gauge.

I like the intercomp. Bubble gauges sometimes don't go past 6 degrees of camber. I run over 6 sometimes.

I have both... Use the digital at home and the bubble at the track if I tear up the front end. Too many times the trailer is unattended at the track and I'm afraid the digital will grow legs.  If we tear off a right front, on our set-up sheets the number of threads showing is noted for all tie rods radius, control arms and ball joints. Lotsa times in the pits the ground is not level and I am too lazy to level the trailer every trip to the track. once again we reference the thread count....

We use the Longacre Digital Caster/Camber Gauge with the Longacre Turnplates.....after using those I won't go back to a bubble gauge. Much more Accurate.

One nice feature of the Longacre digital is the digital gauge can be removed from the adapter/carrier and used as a digital level.  We stock the bubble and digital type as well as the magnetic adapter.  The screw on adapter Longacre lists for Legend Cars does not work very well, the magnetic adapter  works well.  The difference in cost between digital and bubble is $73.00
