There is an annoucement for Monday, January 4th in regards to the change. I asked about the change yesterday and was told the IT guy(s) put it out a little early, but I could not get anymore information.

Merry Christmas,

Maybe Humpy bought it back from SMI?

Racecar spelled backwards is racecar. Racecar upside down is expensive.

The name change and facelift are the result of Bruton Smith becomming more involved with Legend cars. There will be large paper ads, and a T.V. commercial on ESPN. Other changes will follow, Humpy had a large hand in 600, when he left 600 continued to operate but on a lower key. Bruton has now stepped up to hopefully kick some new fire into the company and move forward. We will see. SMI has very deep pockets, they could make this very interesting if they choose to do so.

On the Yahoo LegendsCars Group a funny comment was made and I agree...The reason why it says International is due to the fact that now all of their body panels including fiberglass and sheetmetal among other parts are made in CHINA!! LOL, its not the real reason but its just funny.

That is funny, as a dealer i am not very excited over the continuation of parts comming from China. The international I am sure comes from the growing amount of cars overseas. As a dealer i am in and out of  600(lol) often, you might be surprised at the amount of cars and parts being shipped out of the country. The part of the name i dont care for is the U.S. and International together, doesnt seem necessary, but its not my corp. The last thing is i am not sure why they WERE called Legends and now they are just Legend cars, I like the Legend cars better.

With Acura going to the TL, RL, etc, maybe there will now not be a threat of a  lawsuit with Acura now over the "Legend" car name?

Whats in a name? I dont care.  But if SMI is going to spend money putting some races on TV and in to some Ads.  Maybe get the word out and and get the car counts up.  Thats good for local tracks, SMI, and everyone involved in Legends or Legend car racing.
