oil temp gage
« on: February 04, 2012, 09:34:37 pm »
so i am putting my dash back in and when i hook up the oil temp  gauge  the light works but it pegs the gage. is the gage bad or is this normal. i only took the wires off of the junction block , i did not remove any wires off the gauge so i think it is wired wright. there are 3 wires 12v power, ground and the wire that went to the oil temp gage wire. the gage pegs when i hook up the 12v and ground if i take 1 wire off the ground or the 12v light out gage goes back down.
thanks cody

I have ran into that before. Trace the 3 wires back to the terminal block or further if needed. More than likely you have 2 wires mixed up (the sender to the ground terminal and the ground to the sender terminal) Seems weird but a direct ground on the sender terminal will cause the gauge to peg. I seriously doubt that the gauge is bad.
