« on: October 20, 2011, 10:39:16 pm »
so i need to replace the tach in my daughters car and i need to know do i need one that goes to 11,000 or will 10.000 work. also does any one think a shift lght would be good for a young drive that has never had to shift her race car or will it just be a bright ight in her face?
THANKS CODY

Lose the tach. Don't need it in my opinion. Just another useless gauge that's not going to get looked at until after the race when you hit the recall button, then it will tell you that you hit 10k on the start.
If she's watching the shift light, she's either going to get run over or run someone else over. Gear indicator I'd maybe go with, more than once I've wondered why my car sucked after a restart only to find out I was in 5th instead of 4th, but not a shift light.

she will only be  practicing she wll not be racing for a wile. i was thinking she will not know when to shift bye the sound of the engine because she is only 13 and has never shifted a car. she will have enough practice before she is in a race that she will know how to shift with out a tach. the shift light was just a thought so she did not have to look down at the tech wile she is learning.

gimpster do you wont to sell the tach and how much.

thanks cody

agree...I ran with a full set of guages my first season and never used them.  Took them all out and now I run a gear indicator only.

For her to find out where to shift the car I would suggest that you take the car out and rev it to the chip going through the gears.  this way she can hear what it sounds like.  then when she gets in the car have her shift up through the gears hitting the chip.  Obviosly only first second and third depending on the track you are running but this will teach her a baseline of when to shift the car.

I'll give you a whore house deal on it. I'll have the wife dig it out of the garage then shoot you a private message.
