Seat aggravation!!!!
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:11:56 pm »
I'm hoping someone out there will help me out. I'm 6'3" and bought a sedan, and am trying to fit some type of containment seat in this....  I got a 17" kirkey 68 series, with the 18 degree layback but it is 20" wide at the front, and just fits in between the door and driveshaft tunnel, but the shoulder support makes the seat all cocked in the car  because it is too wide. Kirkey TR me the 16" would gain me an inch at the base in the front, but I gotta believe it'll be a tight squeeze.

Is there anyone on here that is tall and runs a full containment seat. If so, what size and type works well, and how much room do you have between your helmet and the top roll cage?   I've never spent so much time researching seats and their dimensions

Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We have a Kirkey Light Weight Full Containment Seat in all three of our cars. All three seats are the same size which is 16. They are a tight fit but still have room, the seat it tight between the tunnel and the left side sheet metal. We haven't had any problems with the door, If you are running into a lot of problems take it to a fab shop that could help you out. They may have to cut the seat and tig weld it to make it mount in properly. Once the seat is in you won't have any other issues.
