Randy,
thank you for your post. After reading it I went back and checked as you suggested since I originally checked the car at idle.
For starters we have a brand new battery with a full charge on it according to my smart-charger.
We checked the the current at the Alternator and it was at 13.5 volts spiking to 16-17 at 2500 RPM but it was sporadic and for just a brief second. I am by no means an electrician but that did not set right with me.
There were no acid leaks ever and I did go back and re-check all my ground connections and they are solid. We picked up a new alternator and I will let you guys know the results of the multi-meter test once it is in.
