And you get a lot more oil which keeps air cooled engine cooler. All those long lines have a lot of oil in them. The down side is with it up front in a crash the can get hit. Just saying.

That's what I like about the Oberg filters... They are small and can be mounted anywhere. Don't protrude like a canister. The oil cooler(s) on the otherhand is a whole other story.

I think the Texas style one points the filter down so that it is easier to remove and the spin on filter should have a bigger filtering area than the stock one. 

The Texas style is horizontal, not pointing down, but there's plenty of room to spin it off.  It is a much larger filter than the original yamaha was, and it's easier to undo.  The original yamaha style worked great when it was in a bike pointing to the side, but it's a little harder to get both the screw and the bolt out when it's tucked up against a firewall.
