Safety Harness Mounting
« on: December 24, 2015, 02:59:57 am »
Question for everyone on the mounting of the harness in the rear.  I bought a car that had the belts looped over the rear crossbar (like i fully intend to do), but were also under the rear sheet metal filler panel (coupe style).  The car was run at Concord and am assuming it has passed tech that way.  The question is, is that how everyone is doing it or are you trimming holes around the belts?  In my opinion, based on everything I've run before, and common sense, the belts having the opportunity to rub against anything, especially sheet metal, is a bad idea.  Any pics of how anyone has their setup would be much appreciated.  Thanks and Happy Holidays from PA!  ~Mike

I cut a clearance hole in the rear deck panel an trim with plastic door edging from auto parts store. I then wrap the belts up and over the top cross bar and through the seat's shoulder hole(s).

And that makes sense to me.  Thanks!

I've done mine the exact same way. You want the shoulder belts to pull you back, not down. Making sure the enter the back of the seat the correct way is important.

Thanks everyone!  It is pretty much how I wanted to do it in the first place.  I just couldn't believe that the car was allowed to run with the belts basically rubbing a sheet metal edge.  To me it goes against common sense.  ~MH
