What type of ear buds to you wear for your raciever?
« on: June 01, 2015, 03:09:40 am »
I have been using my iphone earbuds which are very comfortable for gym and day to day use, not very good for the racecar. Too much noise interfering with my ability to hear the tower.

I have some hearing damage from my military service which I am sure is a contributing factor.

Some guys I have talked to say they run basic JVC buds they picked up for cheap. Others have $100+ ones from Racing Electronics.

Ideally I think the foam ones from RE are probably best but more then I want to spend. Is there a cheaper brand that sells a similar product?

After trying a few different types I ended up with the racing electronics molded ear buds. They are the very best IMO.

I have also used the molded ear buds the Jim from VMS motorsports sells. It comes as a do it yourself kit. I want to say its around $50 but don't quote me on that. You can find him on here.

Good luck!

Been using it for years - works great - I even mix some colored foam into them from a swimming pool noodle that I hit with my tire sanding disk to give me some shredded stuff. My red is right ear

I run the custom molds from racing electronics and still need to put duct tape over my ears in order to hear.  My hearing is not great.  My wife says I have selective hearing!  Ha.    I hear the newer Raceivers might have a better amplifier..... I think it is the model that has two channels but not sure.  I tried an inline amp but that did not work out.
