My problem is the closest track is 3½ hours away. SO I have to pick and chose when to go. If there is even a chance of rain than forget it. There will be a new track next year that will only be 1½ hours away. You sure would think that there would be more cars around the USLC headquarters though.

Zack, I don't think you have to worry about Concord. It has not been too rough on equipment from what I have seen. I watched your Gopro video from Friday nights race. From what I understand it was kinda rough on my buddy Jason.

If you ever decide to come run Concord let me know.

I def will. I'm not saying Concord is off my list by any means. I just have a Friday and Saturday track  already. Fridays is 10 min pull and Saturdays is 45 mins. Jason kinda got run over it looked like.

As a new guy looking to get back into racing my biggest intimidation is the tire bill. $480 0r $580 I think said for a set of cut tires to last 4-6 races. That is better than any other asphault car but still adds $100 per night to your expenses. When these cars were advertised in the late 90's they claimed the BF Goodrich tires would last the season. Letting guys cut them could not have been good for the series.

You dont need to get them cut that agressivly. I run asphault and I generaly get approx 20-25 race days out of a set of rights and even more on a set of lefts. I get them mildy cut. You can get these federals to last a season if you cut them right.

Yes you can get a lot of races from a set of Federal tires, BUT you will not compete at an event with guys that are cutting them down to nothing. There are some guys that run the rights one to two days. I am not saying this is good, in fact I think it is NOT what we should be doing at all. We have had threads on tires multiple times so there is no point doing it over. Race to your budget and be happy with what you have. I encourage racers to run a full set and then buy just rights and then a full set. We tried running the lefts longer and the results were not very good.

No doubt Dennis. I was coming from a newbie's point of view. . With John just getting back into racing, or just getting back into Legends, cutting tires so aggresivly probably isnt economical or benificial right off the bat.

Your right though, but if they are spending $250-$500 on a set of tires per race weekend Im willing to bet they are spending as much or more other areas of the car. To me the issue of the engine outweights the tire issue hands down. Just my opinion.

I usually get 5 races on the rights and 10 races on the lefts which I think is pretty good.

Is there a reason to change the lefts when they still look great???
