Battery size???
« on: August 08, 2012, 10:37:25 pm »
Does anyone know a battery number that is close to the min weigh allowed and comes from wal mart
Or autozone, advance auto, etc.   Need a new one was wondering if there
Was a cheaper one from somewhere local that doesn't weigh a ton.

Here's another question, would a weak battery hurt performance?  Practiced tonight
and the battery would barely turn the motor over toward the end.  Am I giving up speed and time
on the track if the battery is this weak.?

A weak battery commonly will affect ignition components.

get a battery tender for during the week.it will keep your battery at full charge and it will last longer as well as well as not making the alt. work as hard

Nate,

Battery is a 26 series. Cheapest one is from Walmart. If you can find a -26T battery it is the best as the posts are in the center, instead of on one edge, but I have searched and can't find one other than the one that USLC buys, and it doesn't make since to ship a battery when I can buy one local. And that is even being a dealer...

Measure the battery bracket because USLC has built them in a couple of different sizes. I found this out when I changed chassis a couple of years ago and my old battery didn't fit.

Scott, was it a new chassis or a used one? I would bet that someone moved the battery box illegally and that is why it doesn't fit.

Nope it was new and when I ask USLC about it they said that they changed the size because they were using a differant battery. My old chassis was pretty old though (2000) so I'm sure other things have changed a little also.
