Body mounting
« on: May 07, 2012, 02:34:22 am »
Hi there, I'm new to racing legends and have been building a car during my spare time.  I had a daughter that arrived much earlier than expected, so it pushed my season back, working with medical issues.

Anyhow,  I'm using a new chassis,  body, and new nerf bars.  The car is a 37 Ford Sedan.  I bought a pre cut body from 600, so the body and firewall was easy to mount and the doors were also easy to mount (I just used the door hinge cutouts to align everything.  Anyhow, I put on the new rub rails, and I'm not sure the correct order to mount the fenders, running boards, hood, and grille.   I want to do it right the first time, so I thought I would ask the pros.  So where do you start?  The chassis is new, there aren't any holes drilled for the grill yet.  The body panels also have no holes yet.

The car is a dirt car for Beaver Dam, WI.  37 Ford Sedan, American Racer dirt tires.

So where do I start?  Do I line up the hood on the cowl and put the grill under the nose of the hood and start there?  Are there measurements for the grille holes in the frame that I don't have?  I know the grill helps locate the front fenders.  Any help is appreciated--Pics would be great also (maybe I'm asking a bit much).  I just want a nice looking car and not a hack job.

Thanks alot,
Scott

I've found it best to bolt the front of the fenders to the grille first.
They you can set them on the car and mount everything else accordingly.

Congratulations daddy!  :)
