Mounting Longacre LTI timing device
« on: December 27, 2011, 01:10:50 pm »
This will be the second season I will be running the LTI timing device and was looking for a better way to mount the display.  Last year I just followed the manufactures instructions by using Velcro.  I didn't have any problems but the concern I am having is if the display comes loose while racing it would be quite a distraction having it slide around in the car.  I have searched everywhere online that I can think to find an alternative to mount the display with no luck.  Longacre does not sell any mounting bracket and really has no suggestions.  I'm hoping someone else is using this system and has figured out a better way to mount the display.  Any pictures would be great as well.   Thanks.

Matt

I haven't seen this system really, but how about using velcro and put a couplen wire ties over it someway to hold it?

Post a picture of the unit, I'm sure someone can help you figure out a more secure mount

I don't have a picture of mine but here is a link that will show you the entire system including the display.

What are the dimensions?
Do you need access to push the buttons while driving (I sure hope not), or do you just pull it out after the race?

I has something like this in my car along time ago. I mounted it off the the side so I wouldn't look at it (or be tempted to). I would come after a practice round and look at it then or on a yellow or red I could look at then.

I don't have it in front of me right now but I would say it 's between 4-5" wide, 2-3" tall, and about 1" thick.  I don't need to press anything while I'm driving but would like to see it under caution.  I would like to mount it to the steering shaft bracket if possible.  I saw a guy last year at Erie speedway that had it integrated with a tach on his steering shaft bracket.

I have used Velcro from home depot for a couple of years now and I have not had an issue.  I buy the heavy duty Velcro and it is tough to pull it off sometimes.  Works fine.
