No, I have found it best to rap the area to cut with Duct Tape. You can cut it a number of ways (skinny wheel, die grinder, chop saw). However if you use either of those methods, you need to flush the line out using a solvent tank or even something as simple as brake clean. The best way that I have found for cutting braided lines is a cable cutter that you can find in the electrical isle of your local Home Depot or Lowes. It cuts right through the stainless braiding and rubber hose and leaves a nice clean cut with no frays. I would still tape it though. Your hose clamp goes right over the top of the braided line. It isnt needed to pull or trim it back. Hope that helps!

Cutting back the braiding is pretty easy.  On most of the hose it is not bonded to the rubber hose so you can roll it back a couple inches and then use some wire snips or something along those lines to cut the braiding.  Make sure to tape in where it is cut back to keep it from fraying.

Having problems stripping hose clamps on the carb inlet, clamping it with a thin band hose clamp ??  Seen issues with the 5/16" banded hose clamp (Ideal Hose clamp # 6202)  when torqued a few times to more than 15 inch pounds. Most of the time, with the steel braided hose cutting meathods everyone suggests here, with a new clamp, the braided hose will seal around the carb inlet nipple. If  you are not sure of it clamping good or not, install 2 hose clamps beside each other and don't overtighten the clamps... just a thought

Exactly, my friend.... a good wire cutter is how I did it in the past. I put up with the fraying but cut the hose braiding back about a foot from the carb
Good advise dude

just pull the rubber end out of the steel braid line.  Make sure to tape the ends of the steel braid.

Did some digging for a while last night since I couldn't sleep. Eather USLC had the info up for that gauge to be sent for repair or Mike Patrick had posted the address for the company on Yahoo Groups to answer someone asking bout repair of those units. I went back reading posts from current to posts until around 2006 and couldn't find the address to send it to. Must have been posted years before that. Maybe get of  Mike Patrick @ More Power Specialties, Inc and ask him. If you can't get ahold of him let me know, I will call him and ask

I always use a little plastic piece to slide over the inlet on the carb as well to make sure it seals properly.

For the digital shift guage parts, in a few weeks get ahold of Jeff Jordan at RPM Pro-Formance. I tracked the manufacture back to him. This bothered me cuz I couldn'f find the supplier and I did some calling around. LOL, took a while. Ended up talkin to Jeff on the phone a little bit ago. His manufacturer had a little programming issue and is straightening it out. Jeff will get another supply soon, as result, so like I mentioned give him a call for the parts you need.  Phone number is 7o4-792-1002
