buying cut tires....
« on: March 04, 2011, 02:37:59 pm »
Never done this before, so this may be a stupid question.  Looking to buy a few sets of tires at one time, sponsor wants to pay for it all at once.  Can you buy cut tires that are dimounted, or is it better to have them cut on the rims you are gonna be running the tires on?

It would be better to have them cut on your rims, if you are near to a cutter. But then again soon as you hit someone or something they change.
Most guys just order them from your perfered cutter, who will cut them on his rims then ship out.

I'm also looking at ordering 20-24 tires in the next week or 2,  Being in Nova Scotia I can't think of anyone doing it so we have them shipped in pre cut from the US, who are you guys using I'm looking at ordering DSR cut tires.  Who do you recommend.

I used to use Ol' Dawg back when I ran on tar. I think it just comes down to who you like.

Ol'Dawg has been around a long time and is a reputable tire cutter. There are others out there with good reputations also. Might come down to who is closer to you, just to cut shipping costs and give your customers a bit better price. Call some of the tire cutters and see what kind of deal you can work with them.

if you are gojng to buy a "few" sets..you should buy more right sides.  You can get a year out of the  lefts, if you dont crash, but if you run alot woul will eat up right sides..

by the way is the car wrapped yet? send me a pic

Just dont get them cut too low, I have scene some tires go in 2 or 3 nights.  If you get a avg. cut, not to low, and can get most if not the year out of the left sides.  You will need change the right at least 1/2 way through the year.  Is also depends on how may nights are you going to run. The tires on the car were Ol dawgs and seem to work well and did not chunk up..
