Title: Header Studs
Post by: DoubleZero on March 13, 2016, 08:34:39 pm
My header studs keep backing out of the block.  Then, the exhaust gasket blows.  Changing that at the track with the engine hot is not something I want  to do again.  Luckily, I have not stripped any threads yet.  Any advise on how much to torque the studs with the engine cold?  Also, do you use loctite or something on the threads?  Thanks.

Nobody wants to answer? I would use the Red Locktite. My best guess.

Appreciate the help.  They held the race at Anderson, SC last week.   Ended up pitted next to ZFORCE!   We had 22 legends cars on the track for the race!

To close this one out.  My issue is resolved.  The original header pipes ended up being a mess.....flanges not straight where the pipes meet the head.     I purchased nice Borla pipes, torque them periodically to 100 inch pounds, and don't have issues any more.    Thanks.
