I have been kicking this idea around for a while now and since INEX requires hose clamps on oil filters, I need some volunteer testers for your input over the winter months. I am in search of info on statistics like torque, HP, installation tips of preference, safety, best clamp screw position for aerodynamics, safety wire wear predictions on double gasket oil filters, rotation of the infragnated capitulator and so on... and the real question - wouldn't duct tape be the same cure ? (I am amazed that we are not required to wrap duct tape around the filter/mount mating surface to keep oil from spraying onto the track, anyone test this theory yet ?)
Also in the machine shop agenda... has anybody been installing duct tape over the fuel cap to make sure it has been properly installed and not lost on the speedway while burning laps ?? This could be a tech issue...

I will chime first .. I think they should add 10 pounds to the left side max weight rule to allow for at least 10 pounds of safety wire !

I'm developing a titanium oil filter clamp tether kit, $199.95 should be retail price point.
Will be much lighter than a $2.00 clamp and safety wire...stronger too.
I have a pending US utility patent and 2 US design patents, so stay away G, or you're going to jail.

I really didn't know this was a problem? I have never seen anyone lose a oil filter but I have only been doing this for 12 years. Maybe they should require us to put a diaper under the motor because when the blow they usually punch a big hole right under the headers. But motor are not a problem.....LOL

Over the years, I've heard of seveal instances of the filter comming loose. As Jim posted earlier; Usually due to getting the wrong thread ptch on the oil filter.

Of course I use Oberg filters so have no real use. But hey, could happen.

You see.. this was not a high speed oil filter hose clamp.
I believe it was too hung over.
Then again 10 pounds of safety wire might have helped avoid the blowout ! (Speculation from my department anyway)

The first high speed oil filter hose clamp is installed but someone might wanna tell Inex that we gunna have a header clearance issue with the update (I don't have the header on this car right now but I can see there will be an issue) - looks legal to me though

Wouldn't the lower filter have to be done also?
Not sure this is the way safety wiring is done; But you may be able to get that by tech.

hahaha the way the rule is worded it should be legal !!!!
On the end there is where I started to wrap my 10 pounds of safety wire. Depending on the header I should have room for it

I would assume the rule applies to the other filter as well. Better get some more bailing wire.

You were right though, it was under 2 bucks... I had the filter laying around and the wire is out of my wire feed welder !!
