Anyone heard of Legends racing on Ice? If there was a race somewhere in the area, I'd go in a second to watch. Not sure if I'd want to race on it this year. Maybe after a little more bum time in the car. :o

I can't imagine getting anywhere fast on ice due to the power to weight ratio , maybe with studded tires...I dont know...I know a guy who ice races here and he tears his car up every time out, but maybe it'd be different.
-
What is it about ice racing that is so hard on his car?
Mike
Yeah, I was thinking studs myself. Obviously it wouldn't be an Inex sanctioned event, but fun for sure!
-
The bouncing off the other cars all day!! ;D
-
Yep! I can see that now. Big bad mojo there. :o
-
If your bouncing off other cars; hopefully your stayin' on the track. Slidin' off in the snow drifts wouldn't be fun!
:D ;D Yes It Would!!! :o :o :o
I've seen snowmobiles run on the ice. They run some serious spikes on their tracks. Have only seen cars on ice, on TV. Does look like fun! ;D

Ice is for sweet tea!
When the high temp is below 50° I don't go racing. I HATE being cold! I know you snowbirds think 50° is "nice," but to me, it is miserable. I prefer temp ranges where the girls walk around in their bikini tops!
Can y'all tell I live in Dixie? ;D
-
Havent seen a bikini in 4 months here in the Frozen Tundra of Wisconsin! :'(

I dunno bout all that... It's 115+ degrees in the summer here which makes it REALLY hot at the track and in your fire suit and helmet. ughhhh.. I can always put on extra clothes to stay warm, but they frown on trying to race naked... lol

I few years ago I saw motorcycle and ATV racing on a hockey rink here in St. Louis. Maybe legends cars with studded tires in a hockey rink. That might be interesting.
-
That would be cool, can't see it happening, but it would be cool, as long as we were fully studded. I would think they would need to reinforce the walls, hockey walls are only plywood with 2x4's....dont wanna take out any spectators, ya know! Sounds like something they would do up dere in Canada, eh?
-
Out here on the East Coast of Canada we would go without the studs and the boards. Let the spectators fend for them selves ;D. Just joking, actually we would run without the studs but definately need the boards inside.

Snowmobiles used to run on our track in the winter time. I dont see why Legends couldn't studd the tires and do the same. I think the hockey rink would be too small but to run on our track would be great. Plus the owner of our track is always looking for ways to make more money.

Geoff,
Your a CRAZY MAN!!!!
Scares me; BUT I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!! :o
Somehow.................. Justfreaky! :D :D :D
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
RB,
Our local track wants to promote off season stuff too.
PROBLEM: He doesn't want to pay for it!
-
I think it would be great fun to go out there on ice. I just want to borrow someone else's car to do it in.... Oh Ricky Bobby!... ::)

I've heard that before ;D. I think that the offroad racing days have something to do with it. One to many head traumas :D.

Legends... Off road... nope. Don't see it.
Well I do, but it involves a little higher setup than what I use right now, and maybe a lot taller springs. Fun? Oh yes!
-
I used to race 4x4 trucks. Although I did have a couple of off track trips this season that led to some air time. Not fun ;).
Geoff
-
You wanna put your car out there with these guys????
http://www.photosbyhoofer.com/photo3_4.html
-
Nope! But I'd be willing to put someone elses car on the track with them. Volunteers? :D
-
:ROLLIN:
-
You are all chickens. I would have thought one of you would think it important to donate your legend to the cause. 'cause I want to race it...
Mike
-
Mine would be there with other Legends with me behind the wheel. Might not be possible here now. Our ice is pretty much gone in just two days of warm weather. We still have a good foot of snow :P.
Geoff
-
Heck, at least the motors would last. I do not think heat would be a problem..
Dave
-
Still waiting for snow
:P
Steve
-
all of our snow is gone too. Do you think it is too early to open the track? Mike what do you think, I am sure if we showed up with some cash Arnie would open the gate for us to go racing.
-
Oh yeah! Money always talks. He'd open it up for us. You'd have to come by and get my car too since I don't have a tow vehicle yet. 8)
-
Looks like they decided to give ice racing a try up in Alaska.

Ya knew it was only a matter of time before someone gave it a shot.
Steve
-
That would be awsome. hey MagaMan should we take the cars up there next year? :-)
-
Yup! We sure should. Think you can find someone to sponsor the trip for us?
Mike
-
See you bring it back to sponsorship. That is a different thread :-).
-
Well... I bring it back to MONEY! I don't have it, and I'm hoping someone else is willing to pay for me to have fun! Don't we all want that?
Once I have the MONEY part taken care of, I'm all for ice racing. ;D
Mike
Hey RB... Think IBM would give us some money for this?
-
Once I get back from the honeymoon next week IBM is on my list. I figure they give me money all year long why not a bit more :-)....the only problem is I just finished painting the body black and yellow. And justfreaky I will post pictures just for you once the paint job is done :-)
-
Hey wait a minute! When and where did you paint your car? With what equipment? Come on, give!
Y'all ain't gonna share with your buddy?
Mike
-
;D ;D ;D
Looking Forward To Those Pics!!!
Steve
-
I tented off a section of the new garage and I walked out of Costco last week with a brand new 30 gallon air compressor :-). The body looks great so far. i have been working like crazy every night. Mandy and I put the body back on last night so when I get back I have to paint the new fenders and hood. Those new parts sure are alot easier to get a nice finish on than that rough old body I have. i think next year a new body should be in the bidget.
-
Yup. New body for my car and for me next year. Budget or no budget. How else am I going to come anywhere near close to your weight?
Steve is right... Pics!
-
Now are you talking my weight or the car weight :-).
Ya guys post some pics of your cars. I am sure some of you have been doing some body work or painting that you can show off.
-
Erm.... We were talking about your paint job Ricky...
-
Ouch!
Touchy Subject!!!
;) Just ribbin' ya!
How about more pics????
Steve
