The 2013 Inex rule book will go into effect May 3rd, 2013. The rule changes are listed on USLC's web site. I have attached a copy of the e-mail. If it makes it through that is

On the back of the body, where it hangs down between the frame horns

The 34 bodies have a tail that hangs down between the frame rails. You are allowed to remove that section up to the top of the frame rail. There were alot of complaints of frame horns being bent in and destroying the whole rear section of the body.

Thats good info to know. Ive got a Ford 34 sedan and my body happens to hang down just bellow the horns. I read the rule but didnt understand why it would make much of a difference. Looks like ive got some trimming to do in the near future.

I got to thinking about trimming our body like the new rules states we can, got to wondering what effect it would have on the air dynamics of the car. Anyone got any feed back on doing the trimming?

I believe you are better off with it off. It would do no good hanging down catching lift.

Alot of guys have been doing that for years that I've seen...on asphalt so theres not a parachute effect, and on dirt because it gets all broken up anyway.
Can't say if it helps anything aerodynamically

Was reading through the rule book last night. It looks like head and neck restraints will be mandatory for all drivers in 2014. Anyone know anything else about this?

Head and neck restraints are becoming pretty standard safety gear in a lot of different classes of racing.
The younger drivers have been required to wear them for awile now. Was just a matter of time.
I know that several of our members have been thankful to have them.

I agree I have one and very glad I have it. Just see alot of people in our area that dont and I think a $600-$700 is going to be hard to swing.

They are a bit pricey. At least knowing they will be required next year give people time to save up to get them.

You would think they would make a point to let everyone know. Not just tuck a footnote in the rule book. ;D

That's more of a heads up than some rule changes.

It wouldn't suprise me.
I should be dead from the wreck I had in 2008, bent the steering wheel over20 degrees with my head. I was very lucky. Been wearing one since then.
For $600, it's the best insurance you can have.

Just my opinion
