Title: What's the spark plug thread size.
Post by: Oldtimer1 on March 30, 2013, 06:58:33 pm
I have a chance to buy a nice Snap On compression tester but I need to know if it comes with the right size adapter first. Thanks

NGK spark plugs that are normally used in Legends Yamaha engines are 12 mm thread.  See link below...

Harbor Freight unless you're stuck on a particular brand name

Bought digital tester from McMaster-Carr as listed in link below.  Includes 12 mm adapter.  Nice tester - works great.

$90 for both of the Snap-On units sounds like a good deal too.  You may want to contact a Snap-On dealer first for cost if 12 mm adapter is not included.  BTW - Caution when using the leakdown tester.  We have used them for years where I work and have had mixed results with what the readings really mean or if there really is a problem.

The Snap On compression test come with a 12mm adapter so that's a plus, I'm going to roll the dice and wait until Friday and offer him $80.

Lots of different BRAND NAMES out there. Sometimes it depends on your budget.
I've bought some off brands that do just as well as the expensive stuff. Do a little shopping around!

Hell i would scoop that one up, $90.00 for snap on stuff? I believe for the adapter hose itself i paid $40.00 from the snap on dealer.
