Title: Which ignition box for a 1200 engine
Post by: Legend79 on July 04, 2011, 04:03:50 pm
Hi all, can anyone tell me which ignition system is best for the 1200 engine, the one on my car has small connection for a vacuum pipe which I'm told goes to some where on the carb. This has been blanked off on the black box, and the engine runs fine, so is it worth re connecting and what does it do? Is the red inex box better? The car has red coils if this makes a difference.

Do not re-connect the vacuum. It is an emissions piece that will actually slow you down.
I only run black boxes on my car, and have had zero problems with them.
I have seen people selling their red boxes and buying black boxes. why? I don't know, I'll let them answer if they frequent the forum

The black vacume box is the best... good for more rpms and does not get 'soft' after hitting the rev limiter a number of times. They have a better silicate capaciter in them than th ered box or normal non vacume black box
