I have a blue sealed engine... runs ok but next year it would have to go to 600..what else can I do with this motor? is it worth having it done at 600? I know it does not have the straightaway speed of the 1250's..

not sure what you mean by it doesn't have the speed of a 1250. Is it not a 1250? All sealed engines should be 1250's (except a very few 1219's and even fewer 1200's that they just recently would have sealed.)
The blue seal is just an older style seal. Send it down to USLC and have it resealed. If it needs to be freshened, this is the perfect time to do it. Once they go through it, it will be as good as new.

Post the engine number and we can verify the motor as a 1219 or 1250.

its a 1213.. I bought it a while ago in a car, we had a different motor, did not use it much but this year with the rule change I could not keep it as a back up with out sending it to the 600 shop..brad I do not think this motor can pull as good as a 1250, just don't want to spend a lot of money for a so so engine, but do not want to junk a ok motor..

I take it you meant 1219? It will come very close to a 1250 in hp. The torque will be a little off. The 1219 gains over the 1200 because of the compression rule, the 1219 sealed is not subject to the 165 rule. I do believe USLC will be phasing the Wiseco 4 and 8 over motors out as they want to make the playing field even with one sealed engine.

To answer your question a little more directly, No this motor sent in and rebuilt will not be totally equal to a 1250.

Dennis, are you saying they are only going to use stock bore pistons?
If so then when the cylinders are worn does that mean they will be sleeving back to the stock bore since there will not be oversize pistons?

My understanding is that the goal is to sell only stock bore motors and keep them at stock bore. This is something they are looking at doing, it IS NOT set in stone. My understanding is most motors are re-sleeved anyway. They have been tweaking on the stock bore on the dyno as to get the numbers as close as possible to the 4 and 8 over. They were not far off to start with, bringing back the argument of the weight of the piston offsetting the over bore. I do believe this will happen at some point.

I wonder if 600 will have all those overbored motors sent back to be correct and resealed ?

I love my 8 over 1250 awesome power. But i am coming from a stock 1200 lol.

No the goal is to get the stock bore motor to produce the same power and torque as your average 4 and 8 over. I am guessing they will allow you to keep the 4 and 8 over as they are if you have one. Once the stock motor is tweaked enough and the hp is the same or close it will not matter. The ONLY motors that are mandated to be returned , inspected and resealed are motors with older seals.
